Younique 3D Fiber Mascara

As many of you know this product has been about for some time now and if you’re an avid fan of social media you will have definitely seen women posting pictures of there before and after pictures to demonstrate how the Fiber Lash Mascara works.

I was very sceptical about trying this product as I never tend to follow the hype when it comes to products such as this. I have seen plenty of news surrounding Younique and “how amazing” there products are. These tend to be comments made by the representatives selling them, alongside my friend who approached me to try out the product, which has pleasantly surprised me.

I wear contact lenses so I was a little worried at first to if the fibers would fall into my eyes and cause irritation, however I can vouch that this wasn’t the case, and in fact once the fibers are sealed correctly you can guarantee that they will stay in place all day without causing any problems.

The best thing about this type of Mascara is that you can build up the Fibers to whatever consistency you like, so you could have long luscious lashes for the night-time and soft delicate lashes for the day time. This all depends on how many coats you wish to apply.Personally I love long lashes, the longer and thicker the better for me, some people don’t like the ‘spider’ look, which I totally appreciate as it can look too ‘fake’ when doing this, especially if you are not used to wearing a lot of makeup.

When you open the nicely packaged product you will notice it comes with 2 tubes, a transplanting gel, which you apply first, and then the second tube which is the fibers. The key to applying the fibers is to apply the transplanting gel, then the fibers and to set them in place another coat of the transplanting gel.

It’s a little more tricky than applying your usual mascara, and you may see it as an hassle to go back and forth between the 2 tubes, however once you get into the swing of things, you’ll pick up what kind of look you are going for.

My technique for application is as follows: (I do one eye at a time)

  • Curl lashes for extra effect.
  • Apply a coat of your original mascara first and let this dry.
  • Apply the transplanting gel and immediately apply the fibers to let them attach themselves onto your lashes.
  • Always apply another coat of the transplanting gel over the fibers to set them.
  • If you want thicker longer lashes, repeat the process.

There is no denying that my lash looks completely different once the fibers have been applied, I would say this product is great for if you aren’t in a position to wear false lashes, or aren’t they great at applying them.

Gaining the golden look this summer, with the help of The Body Shop

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Wakefield Trinity Walk store earlier last month, for a revitalizing make over by the manager himself, Lee.

Before the makeover began, I had my face cleansed, with a product, which I am in shock I have never seen before within The Body Shop (as it is now 100% a part of my daily routine)

Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter
This beautiful balm, will last you ages, you take a small amount, rub within your fingers and then all over your face, eyes, lips… wherever you girls put your make up! And it breaks it all down, easily enough to wipe away, if you don’t believe me, try it for yourself! This is definitely effortless for the hardest of make up to remove!  Amazing value at just £12.00.

To help give your face that beautiful glow before even applying any makeup, Lee then reached for the ‘Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser' if like me you always thought that Vitamin C mainly came from oranges, then you will be shocked to find out that, The Body Shop have found a wonderful ingredient, ‘Camu Camu Berry’ which has up to 60 times the Vitamin C of an Orange. Which works wonders for keeping our skin taught and soft. As the summer months move in close, we need to remember to take care of our skin and with the special formula within this moisturiser you will be good to go. It feels absolutely amazing! I’ve had a few hangovers myself this May, due to the Bank holiday we had at the start and a busy time at my Sister in laws wedding, this really helped to bring my skin back to life after all the dehydration I had caused myself. I can understand why a lot of people wouldn’t want to spend £16.00 on a moisturiser as there are a lot out there for less, but I would recommend this product more so because it does really work. My skin has started to feel a lot healthier, as well as look it too.

If you are into the ‘Dewy’ skin look when your foundation is on, then I would recommend this look for you, I would also say this product is perfect for the more mature skin, as it can help with fine lines and wrinkles.

There’s a few products within the new Vitamin C range, so be sure to have a look at what works best for you, this is just one of my personal favourites.

New for summer 2015, The Body Shop has released a range named ‘Honey Bronze’ perfect for the sun goddesses.

Honey Bronze™ Face Gel

If you are pale… like me (practically mirroring Casper) then ideally I would say to mix the following product in with your foundation, it gives a natural glow to your skin, and gives a tanned effect without the nasty consequences to your face!

It’s a steal at £13.00 as this product will last you a while as you only need a minimal amount, this product also washes off easily. So you wouldn’t need to worry about it lasting if it was for a short term event.

Honey Bronze™ Highlighting Dome
For contouring, I would recommend the highlighting dome, which again will last you forever, as there is quite a lot of product within this small container. The best thing about this product is it comes in 3 different shades; my personal favourite is the ‘Golden’ shade as it goes well with a Smokey brown/gold eye as you can see from the before and after pics below. This costs only £8.00.

There are a few more items to the Honey Bronze range that I would recommend you to look into this summer, as well as the mist and the bronzer as they all work hand in hand…. Keep your glow alive.

These are the before and after pictures of my make over below;

Until the next blog, go out and enjoy the sun.
